It is the common worry, and it is why the pledge is framed the way it is. You are not endorsing anyone or opposing anyone — you are stating that you fund no party, of any persuasion. It is the one position in this area that does not ask a customer to agree with you before doing business with you.
No. The pledge covers every political party, candidate and associated entity equally, and the scheme takes no position on any of them. Screening uses the AEC’s published data; the AEC does not endorse this scheme.
Then you cannot make the declaration yet. It covers the previous twelve months, so the earliest you could certify is twelve months after the last donation by any entity in your group. Apply then — applying and screening are free, and nothing is charged unless you are approved.
That sits outside the pledge. A donation made by a director, officer or employee in their personal capacity, from their own resources, without reimbursement or direction from the business, is expressly excluded. Pledge, exclusion 4.
Also outside it — unless you know the body is an associated entity of a political party. Pledge, exclusion 3.
Breach of the pledge is grounds for revocation, but not summarily. Except where continued listing would mislead the public, you receive written notice of the grounds and at least ten business days to respond, and the decision is made by someone not involved in the original one. If certification is revoked, the register listing is withdrawn and every badge you have placed shows “not currently certified” within the hour. Member Agreement, clause 8.
Zero Political Funding Pledge is operated by McGovern Solutions Pty Ltd (ABN 83 632 212 849), a small Australian company. It is not government-backed, and the AEC does not endorse it. The operator is itself listed on the register, screened by the same process and decided under the same procedure as any other member. What the scheme is worth rests entirely on its published documents being exactly true — which is why they are all public, and why this page tells you where the screening stops. Read the documents.
